I think the price is too high. It is high enough for them to make $ but compared to the new Lowrance and the Delorme (when they get the bugs worked out) it doesn't look as attractive. It does look like a handy unit.

Unless I am missing something, I do not like how you can't load more than 2000 caches in it. In most any other unit you can load file after file of waypoints and change them to suit your needs. Not everyone travels with a laptop.

We have the Oregon and the nice thing is that the geocaches do NOT go in as waypoints, they go straight into geocache files. I have had up to 2000 geocaches in there and they do not count toward the waypoint total. One issue I see with this unit, it seems that garmin is trying to get this one to replace the E-Trex?? I think that is what I saw. My issue with that is that the e-trex only costs about $90 anymore and this one is going to be starting at like $250. Seems like a costly move to start caching nowadays. We are happy with out Garmin Oregon and are sure that the Dakota series will please those that purchase it.

I have over 10,000 of ohio's active caches loaded in my 60CSx as POIs which is pretty darned cool if you ask me smile.gif And those are on the 4G SD card and of course these do not count in any way towards the maximum geocaches that can be loaded either.

That is really cool TDO, the only difference is that of the 2000 plus I have loaded, it includes the write ups and past 5 logs.....that is cool to know about the POI's on the 60csx. Nicely done

You could load them as POI's but it would be nice to be able to swap out geocache files. The memory is there, they just need to implement a way I suppose.

If you just want the coords you can get a geomate. I'm not a fan of caching with just coords though.

I like the units but I will hold off on buying one because they do not include the wherigo feature which would allow me to search those caches but my concern is the screen brightness. I would have bought an Oregon but you cannot see the screen in bright sunlight. If they made one with the screen brightness of a Apple iPhone I would get one.

I have an Oregon and I have never had a problem with screen brightness. In fact, in the sun you can turn the backlight all the way down and you can see it great. I do keep the backlight on all the time though. No problems seeing that screen. I am thinking some people do not know how to adjust the brightness if the backlight. It took me a while to figure it out.

I liked the idea of Wherigo when i got it. I don't care for it at all. I just want to go caching.
