Just wanted some input into the Groundspeak Geocaching app for iPod touch (not the iPhone). I was wondering if anyone in 'Chumland' has this app and if it was worth the $10. I think it would be worth the money for the iPhone, but don't know about the iPod. Or anyone have any other app that they like better? Thanks!

I was wondering the same thing too. I didn't want to spend the $10 only to find out that the app was not useful.

I heard the app is good for gathering information about the cache and reading through logs but as far as taking you to the cache I heard different results. Some people say that it takes them 30 to 50 feet from the cache and other say that it takes them to it. I would get it because of the info I could get in real time but I will still bring my handheld gps. I'm waiting for the iPhone to come to Verizon.

Step by step directions to load caches as "contacts" in iPhone and iPod Touch.

Since I don't have this technology, I didn't check out any other searcg results found under "geocaching iPod Touch".

Thanks for the info! We have the touch so we can't use it as a GPS. We will mostly use it for the paperless features while on the road/trail.

Thank you. I used my regular iPod for over a year to cache paperless. It worked like a charm. Now I have an Oregon with the notes/logs so I don't need the iPod for paperless. I appreciate the info though. smile.gif

I've used the groundspeak application form the itunes store on our ipod touch. While it has some good features it has some that I could do without and others I would prefer to have. The iPod Touch doesn't have a GPS per say but if you are lucky enough to get a wifi signal it can estimate where you are. Downloading pocket queries are easy and cool but there is an issue that I don't like. It centers you on Groundspeak headquarters and you have to change the address manually. Even then when it sorts the cache list it shows the caches as being the distance from GS headquarters and not the address you are using to sort the list. Another thing that bugs me is the sample caches they have in the app cannot be deleted. At least by my reckoning. At present on a touch it is decent but not worth the $10 to me. Maybe $5. There is another application called Geosphere (Link) that is supposed to be more iPod Touch friendly. I have yet to try it though.
