Immediately before midnight a leap second -- the first for three years -- will be added to atomic clocks around the world by official timekeepers. This is needed to keep the extremely accurate Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) -- correct. UTC has been the world's official clock and is used for broadcasting time signals across the world. The accuracy of UTC is essential for the smooth running of GPS and the Internet. Click the link for more info!
I've known about GPS systems built into golf carts for a while now, but I just learned that there are now GPS units available to tell you how far you are from the green. I wonder how long it will be before they put a tracking devise in the ball so lost balls are a thing of the past? Clicking on this article will bring you to a forum post discussing the topic.
How cool is this, there's a puzzle style geocache at the U.S. Embassy in Helsinki, Finland. This link will take you to a Dept. of State article about it with a link to the cache page. Good to know the government is getting involved in our little pastime.

Help us celebrate Earth Science Week by being involved in EarthCaching on the 3rd International EarthCache Day. Visit an EarthCache with friends, create a new Earthcache or run a training session or event about EarthCaching.
Humanclock.com shows a photograph of the current time, with the photo changing every minute of the day (all 1,440 occuring minutes on Earth!) Thus you end up with a rotating picture clock sorta deal.
Check out The Human Calendar too!
